We were given the assignment to go out and explore, be it food, travel or anything which makes a person happy from inside. After a long discussion, we came up with the idea of doing a food blog because what makes a persons gut happier than food? Honestly, it was just an excuse for us to to fill our stomachs.
The place we chose was ‘Hippie @ Heart’ located at Bhandarkar Road, Deccan, Pune. It is well known for the vibe it has. It justifies its name, with the retro ’60s theme with the posters of popular ‘rock n roll’ artists decorating the colorful walls, giving the whole place a very groovy vibe. Young crowd, hippie oldies, friendly waiters and mind-blowing food- this place has it all.

Group

We ordered pretty much every specialty on the menu. We were happily advised by the manager and the waiters in spite of the crowd coming in during the rush hours
Chicken n Bacon Coxinha

Chicken n Bacon Coxinha
We started off with Chicken n Bacon Coxinha, which was a chefs recommended dish.
It is pear-shaped fried croquettes stuffed with shredded chicken, cream cheese and bacon served with lemon paprika dip and mint chutney.
This dish was very mildly seasoned, so the true flavors sort of burst in the mouth. We could clearly differentiate between the chicken and the bacon.
The mint chutney had a distinct spicy-sour flavor, which turned out to be the perfect dip for this dish.
Beer Batter Fish n Chips

This was a classic British style fish fingers, batter fried with beer, mustard and lemon, served with salad, fries and homemade tangy tartar sauce.
This dish was purely authentic. as we took the first bite, it felt that we were sitting in a sea-side pub in U.K. The outer crispy texture beautifully contrasted with the soft fish inside, which readily melted in our mouths. The flavors were simple which brought out the taste of the fish.
The dip, a white tangy tartar sauce , however did not go very well with the taste of the fish. It was like two opposite flavors forced to mix together. We replaced it with Tabasco sauce.
This dish is highly recommended from our side.
Spice Overload Pizza

This pizza was a light crusted, crisply roasted Italian pizza loaded with cheese, jalapenos, paneer and onions.
The description clearly matched our expectations, it was spicy with a little tangy flavor. It showed its true Italian nature with the right recipe for marinara sauce.
A little more cheese would have been a cherry on top of the cake. However, this is a very good option for vegetarians in the restaurant. Those craving for an Italian treat should surely go for this one.
Chicken Steak

Tender boneless chicken marinated with fresh herbs, stuffed zucchini served with red wine mushroom sauce and black sauce, mashed potatoes and buttered veggies.
This was hands on the best dish we had that night. The tenderness of the chicken could be felt in every bite we took. The sauce was made just right, with its flavor exploding in our mouths, which was balanced out with mashed potatoes and the veggies.
This dish felt like a full meal and none of us could have anything more after this one.
Coconut Cheesecake

For the last course, we decided to try a Coconut Cheesecake. Typical New York style dense, smooth, creamy layered cheesecake topped with coconut shavings accompanied with mango and strawberry sauce.
The consistency was rich and perfect. The coconut shavings strongly contrasted the creamy texture, yet the overall taste seemed to blend in well. The strawberry and mango sauce completed the dessert with a strong punch. It felt like a perfect end to the meal.
We would highly recommend everyone to visit this restaurant once, the delicious food and the vibe around provides a complete package for a fun Saturday night out with friends.
